The dollar softened across the board today. USD/CNY fell to 6.6745 as the renminbi appreciated; EUR/USD rose to 1.1251 with the euro firmer against the dollar; USD/JPY eased to 157.71 and USD/KRW to 1,322.6 as the yen and won both strengthened.
For SNSUC's dollar-priced crude and chemicals, a firmer home currency means less renminbi per dollar of cargo value, giving the landed-cost side some cushion. But transshipment counterparties sit mostly in the Middle East and East Asia, where stronger yen and won lift local procurement and freight conversion.
We watch cross rates rather than the one-sided dollar index, and pricing locks 30 days after the bill of lading date, so exchange moves during that window feed straight into margin.
