The dollar softened broadly against the basket today. USD/CNY fell to 6.6702 as the yuan kept appreciating, USD/JPY dropped to 156.41 on a stronger yen, and USD/KRW held flat at 1324.89. EUR/USD eased to 1.1197, with the euro also weak against the dollar. For SNSUC's transshipment pricing, the local-currency side rewrites delivered cost directly.
A stronger yuan means dollar-priced crude converts into a lower RMB quoted price; a firmer yen compresses the yen-denominated delivered cost for our Japan-route buyers, while Korea barely moves. In the formula Brent x FX x 7.33 x grade, the FX term uses USD/CNY 6.6702 today, a notch below the 6.67 handle of prior sessions, so the RMB number a buyer sees comes in smaller.
We revalue delivered cost daily across five exchange rates — USD/CNY, EUR/CNY, EUR/USD, USD/JPY and USD/KRW — rather than approximating with one cross rate. Japan-route and Korea-route quotes stay independent, so a swing in one pair does not leak into the other.
